1. About Us
Family Matters is a research initiative operated by Creature Media Limited, trading as Creature & Co. (“we”, “our”, “us”). Our aim is to understand families’ views and experiences to inform better content, products, and services.
2. Purpose of Data Collection
We collect survey and research panel data to:
- Understand the needs, attitudes, and behaviours of families.
- Improve and shape the services, campaigns, and content we provide.
- Provide insights to our partners in an aggregated and anonymised format.
3. Who Can Participate
The Family Matters research panel is intended for adults aged 18 and over. If we run any research directed at children, separate parental/guardian consent will be required, along with a child-friendly privacy notice.
4. Types of Data Collected
- Personal information (e.g. name, email address, demographic details) — only where necessary for managing your participation or incentive fulfilment.
- Survey responses — your answers to research questions.
- Optional additional research activities — you may be invited to focus groups, diary studies, or photo diaries. Participation is voluntary.
5. Incentives and Prize Draws
From time to time, Family Matters may offer incentives for participation, such as vouchers or prize draw entries. Incentives are not guaranteed for all surveys and may vary by activity. Prize draws will include clear details on eligibility, prize(s), and closing dates. Winners will be selected at random and contacted directly. No cash alternatives are available unless explicitly stated. Full Prize Draw Rules are set out in Section 11.
6. How We Use Your Data
Survey responses will be analysed and reported in aggregate. Responses may be anonymised and included in reports, marketing materials, or insights for partners. We will never publish or share your identifiable personal data without your explicit consent.

Your data may be accessed by:
The Family Matters research team (Creature & Co. staff) and approved service providers who process data on our behalf, such as Typeform (survey platform provider). These providers act as data processors and are contractually bound to comply with:
- UK GDPR and EU GDPR
- Australian Privacy Act 1988 (APPs)
- New Zealand Privacy Act 2020
8. Data Storage and Security
Survey responses are collected via Typeform, a secure third-party survey platform. Typeform stores data on servers located in the European Union (primarily Ireland and Germany). Where data may be transferred outside the EU/EEA (for example, to the United States), such transfers are safeguarded by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). We take all reasonable steps to ensure that data transfers also comply with the Australian and New Zealand privacy requirements for overseas disclosures. Access is limited to authorised staff and approved partners. Encryption and secure controls are used to protect your data.
9. Data Retention
Personal data will be kept only as long as necessary to manage the panel and incentives. Anonymised data may be stored for longer for research and reporting purposes.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you have the right to:
- UK/EU (GDPR/UK GDPR): Access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, data portability, and restriction of processing.
- Australia (Privacy Act 1988): Access and correction of personal information, and the right to complain about handling of your data.
- New Zealand (Privacy Act 2020): Access, correction, and protection of your personal information, and the right to complain to the Privacy Commissioner.
You may withdraw your consent or opt out of the panel at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal means you will not be contacted again for research, but anonymised data already used in reports may still be retained.
11. Prize Draw Rules
When an incentive involves a prize draw, the following rules apply, unless otherwise stated in the survey invitation:
- Creature & Co. prize draws are open to residents of the British Isles, Eire and the Channel Islands, except employees of Creature Media Limited, their families, or any associated companies.
- No purchase necessary.
- Creature & Co. will not enter into any correspondence.
- Entry is limited to one per person per survey, unless otherwise specified.
- Winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries after the closing date.
- Winners will be notified using the contact details provided within 14 days of the draw.
- If a winner cannot be contacted within 14 days, we reserve the right to select an alternative winner.
- Prizes are subject to availability.
- Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable, and no cash alternative will be offered.
- Full details of the prize, number of winners, and closing date will be set out in the specific survey invitation.
- A list of winners can be available by contacting Creature & Co. no earlier than six weeks (unless otherwise stated) after the close of the competition. Only the surname and county of the winners will be disclosed.
12. Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or within survey invitations.
