Collecting for the Children’s Book Project

Ahhhh, Secret Santa. A new bottle of hand cream to add to the pile. A tin of biscuits which’ll last all of 15 seconds. A cushion with your mug on it instantly gathering dust in a cupboard, never seeing the light of day. Yeah, we’ll give it a miss this year. What about something a bit different…

This year, we’re on a mission to collect books for the Children’s Book Project – because giving the gift of reading beats the giving the gift of tat*.

Did you know that across London and the UK 1 in 4 disadvantaged children owns fewer than 10 books, whilst 1 in 8 has none? This has an impact not only on these children’s academic outcomes but also on their wellbeing, emotional development and sense of themselves as a reader.

The Children’s Book Project directly tackles this ‘book gap’ and gifts donated books to targeted communities. So, we’re asking our team, clients, partners, friends and family to join our book drive and donate any gently used books, to give other children the opportunity to discover the joy of book ownership.

Many of us at Creature & Co. have used our volunteer days to help out the Children’s Book Project over the past year, and we’re excited to be taking this one step further and organising our own book drive.

We will be collecting at our office on Marylebone High Street until the end of January – if you’d like to get involved by dropping off any number of pre-loved Children’s books, give us a message at [email protected].

Consider this a great excuse for a de-clutter over the festive period and let’s kick off 2024 by sharing the magic of exploration with a child – donate your pre-loved books to open doors to unknown worlds and countless adventures!

*Apologies to any tat lovers out there.
